Op2 – Ha Long Bay – The World Heritage

Event Time: 08:00 – 16:00

Lunch on boat

Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site’s outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest.

One of the main attractions of Ha long is the bay’s calm water and the thousands of Limestone Mountains dotting the seascape. The Bay’s water is clear during the spring and early summer. Some of the islands are quite large and there are small alcoves with sandy beaches where swimming is possible. Ha Long bay lies in the northeastern part of Vietnam and is 165 Km from Hanoi. Vinh Ha Long or Bay of the Descending Dragon is often touted by proud Vietnamese as the world’s Eighth wonder.

This morning we will depart Hanoi at 08:30 for a three -hour drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long City. Stop for refreshment stop at the Sao Do charity center. This is a non-government organization run for and by handicapped children.

11.30: Upon arriving in Halong City we transfer to our private boat for a cruise of the crystalline emerald waters of Halong Bay, giving us the chance to take in the stunning scenery of this World Heritage Site. While on board we will have a sumptuous fresh, local seafood lunch followed by a swim and the opportunity to explore some of the limestone caves in the area: Thiên Cung Cave & Dau Go grotto

16:00: Check- out for the drive back to Hanoi.

18.00:  Arrive in Hanoi
